To be able to look in the mirror and not be afraid of what you see is one of the hardest things to do. Nothing to do with vanity or sanity but laying to rest demons, putting aside pain and leaving the cause of ones suffering int he past. As an anorexic who habitually starves myself, this image is a reflection of the place I want to get to. I've battled with self-image and self-hate problems and its a hard struggle; Nurse Redheart knows the work and struggle that has gone into the rehabilitation of Screw Loose and the wonder in her face, the surprise and joy is a bittersweet victory (as Redheart's face implies). This is me utterly projecting, I know, but it pleases me to know that the fan base looks deeper than "hey look, a barking pony" and finds deeper resonances and envisions rehabilitation for even the broken ones. Especially the broken ones.
After the "Just For Sidekicks" episode I wanted to revisit this image, as its a bridge between "Barking Mad Pony" used as a joke and the short continuity snippet we saw which shows that in Equestria rehabilitiation is possible and its a place I so very very much want to be. This is an image that helps me find a way.
I FEEL THEM
This is beautiful.
